|
Seminyak, just north of Legian, offers a never-ending variety of Seminyak hotels, Seminyak villas, shops, restaurants, designer boutiques and other "life-style" stores, as well as numerous bars and other nightspots. The larger hotels in Seminyak Bali are located along the beachfront, but other Seminyak Bali hotels are dispersed in various locations, on or near the beach or amongst rice paddies.
There are several areas where all the action concentrates, the first being Jalan Camplung Tanduk previously also called Jalan Abimanyu or Jalan Dhyana Pura with its myriad of bars, clubs and eateries. To make sure you are up-to-date with all the latest happenings, try to get a copy of or read the online edition of The Beat, the bi-monthly magazine of what`s going on in Bali. As the "scene" starts quite late, it would be a good idea to have dinner before venturing out.
Explore Seminyak`s main street, Jalan Raya Seminyak for the latest in fashion, homewares, restaurants and bars, before heading to the other "must see" location, Jalan Laksmana, also known as Jalan Oberoi or "Eat Street". Here you can indulge in cuisines from around the world, such as Italian, Greek, Asian Fusion and International, to name just a few. Another popular spot is Seminyak Square with several restaurants and shops, including a book store. Along the beach are well-known resorts, such as The Oberoi Bali, The Legian Bali and The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa, as well as several smaller eateries and KuDeTa Restaurant & Night Club.
A few years ago, the area around and north of the Petitenget Temple was mostly rice paddies and tranquil countryside. In the meantime however, Jalan Petitenget, as this road is called, has evolved to offer countless private Seminyak Bali villas for rent, luxury Seminyak Bali resorts, furniture shops and fashion boutiques, upscale restaurants, cafés, the popular Potato Head Beach Club and several other bars and late night venues. This area is also called Batubelig and sometimes it is referred to as Kerobokan.
Continuing north on the main road and then turning off left, first brings visitors to Umalas. This area is now well-known for a multitude of luxury Bali holiday villas and private villa rentals. Many of these Bali vacation villas are still surrounded by rice fields and a rural atmosphere, which in other parts of Bali is already hard to find.
From here, there are several ways to reach the Canggu and Tanah Lot areas.
