The best way to explore the off-the-beaten-track areas is taking a tour around the island. Go east to Candi Dasa first, then continue to Tulamben or Amed for some snorkeling or exciting diving. After a night`s rest, enjoy the drive along the coast up north until the former capital Singaraja and then stop in Lovina for some swimming or a dolphin watching tour. Other places of interest on the north coast are Pemuteran (snorkeling & diving), the Bali Barat National Park (trekking & bird watching) and Menjangan Island (snorkeling & diving). Another night should be spent up there. Take the way back via Seririt and Munduk for splendid scenery of rice terraces and village life. Stop at the view point high up between lakes Danau Tamblingan and Danau Buyan, continue via Lake Bratan, and finally shop for some spices and fruit at the Bedugul market, before heading back south.
